The United States Trade Representative (USTR) revealed in May 2024 that tariffs on Chinese imports of lithium-ion batteries (non-EV) would increase to 25% from 7.5% from 2026. This would increase an estimated 11% to 16% on the overall system costs for U.S.-based integrators, making it a challenge for Chinese suppliers.
